BritneySpears.com Gets An Interesting Layout Upgrade

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 02:21 PM PDT

The tech folks behind Britney Spears‘s official website have done some major tinkering to her website and have unveiled a whole new layout … one that looks, IMHO, kinda tacky. Taking a page from those old My Space profiles and Geocities homepages of the late 90′s, early 2000′s, BritneySpears.com now has a plethora of flashy icons meant to inspire visitors to click on them. Unfortch, those flashy icons didn’t really work in the late 90′s and still do not work today.

I love me some Britney but I am SO not feeling this new site. It looks too cluttered and too messy. I’m actually surprised they didn’t use Blingee icons to jazz it up some more:

Love Brit, this official site layout … notsomuch. What do y’all think?

Robert Pattinson Gets Waxed In Berlin

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 01:33 PM PDT

In an effort to get in on the Water for Elephants movie release promo train, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Berlin, Germany has unveiled a new wax statue that is supposed to look like Robert Pattinson … but, very scarily, does not. I’m not sure what R. Pattz thinks of this wax tribute in his honor but if I were him, I’d sue. Check out the monstrosity below.

I believe the word you are looking for is, YIIIIIIIIIKES!!! Okay, so mebbe it’s not as horrid-looking as I made it sound … but it’s not a very good statue and it really doesn’t look at all like Robert Pattinson. I think it looks more like Rob the farther away you get from it but … eek, it’s kinda scary up close. What do you think, Twihards? Is this a suitable tribute to Rob‘s hotness? Or, is this the scariest thing you’ve ever laid your eyes on?

British popstar George Michael, of all people, has recorded and released a cover version of the Stevie Wonder song You and I in honor of the upcoming Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Michael has asked that everyone who downloads the song to make a donation to The Prince William & Miss Catherine Middleton Charitable Gift Fund. You can listen to the song in full below and learn more about it’s release.

As a gift to everyone, in celebration of The Royal Wedding of Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton, George Michael has released this very special version of Stevie Wonder’s “You and I.”

George would like to encourage everyone who downloads this special track to make a contribution to The Prince William & Miss Catherine Middleton Charitable Gift Fund. To learn more or to make a donation, please visit the official site HERE. He also thanks everyone who submitted song ideas to him via his Twitter account, @GeorgeMichael.

I have to say … the song is lovely. I mean, it’s a beautiful song when Stevie sings it but George Michael‘s version is also wonderful itself. I do find it a bit odd that George would just record and release a song like this for the Royal Wedding but … it is a very nice tribute, one that I’m sure Prince Wills and Kate really appreciate. If you would like to have an MP3 copy of the song, you can download the track HERE. If you are feeling charitable and want to honor George‘s wishes, you can make a donation for the song HERE. What do y’all think of the track? Do you like it?

Miley Cyrus Shows Off Her Pigtails & Her Dream Catcher Tattoo On Twitter

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 01:03 PM PDT

Miley Cyrus, who joins and quits Twitter almost daily, is back on Twitter and is back to sharing personal photos of herself with her legion of followers. Back in February we saw the first glimpse of a new tattoo she got done on the side of her ribcage and then about a week later, we got a closer look at her tattoo … which turned out to be a dream catcher. Today we get to check out a new photo shared by Miley on her official Twitter profile where she is showing off her pigtails hair’do and, accidentally on purpose, her tattoo … which you can see below.

Rocking piggy tails for the first time since like 6th grade! I love summer time :)

Oh yeah, you can tell that Miley really loves her tattoo … and she really loves showing it off. I can’t say that I am in love with the placement but I don’t hate the dream catcher tattoo like so many other folks do. Dream Catchers are a wonderfully magical part of Native American lore and I quite like them very much. No, I don’t think I’d get a dream catcher tattooed on my body but I see no problem with anyone getting their own tattoo. Now that we **finally** get a good look at the tat, what do y’all think? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Do you even care?

Jennifer Lopez Films Her New Music Video In Mexico

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 12:40 PM PDT

Jennifer Lopez, who will be releasing her new album Love? in just a few short weeks, was spotted on the Mexican set of her new music video for her single I’m Into You with William Levy, the man referred to as “the Brad Pitt of Mexico”. J. Lo and Levy looked awfully cozy together as they filmed her video … check out some pics from the set below.

It’s been 12 years since she writhed on to our screens in the music video for her first major single Love Don’t Cost A Thing in 1999, instantly cementing herself as one of the world’s most beautiful women. But Jennifer Lopez proved she’s still got it in a steamy beach shoot with the man dubbed ‘the Brad Pitt of Mexico’ for her latest offering. The singer, 41, looks like no time has past in these newly-released pictures from the set of I’m Into You video shoot, romping on the beach in a revealing diamond dress. The American Idol judge cosies up to shirtless actor William Levy, 30, in sensual beach scenes filmed at Turtle Beach, that are sure to make husband Marc Anthony a little nervous. Cuban-born Levy, called ‘the Brad Pitt of Mexico’ according to Us Weekly, says of his gorgeous leading lady: ‘It was wonderful. I felt very comfortable. She is a very sincere and fun person. The truth is I had a really great time,’ he added. ‘It was wonderful to see that someone so huge could be so down to earth, in addition to being really funny’ … Her revealing diamond dress shows off her famous curves just as the tiny white dress she wore in the If You Have My Love video made hers one of the world’s most lusted after bodies. Jennifer will also wear a low-cut snakeskin print dress and turban for scenes filmed at the Mayan archaeological site, Chichen Itza. The star was given unprecedented access to the site to film her video.

I have been fairly entertained by what I’ve heard from J. Lo‘s new album. I can’t say I’ve been wowed by any of the songs, to be honest, but they’re not bad. I’m curious to hear how the rest of the album will sound but I’m hoping there will be really fun singles on the disc. For the most part, I’d consider myself a big Jennifer Lopez fan. She has so many hot songs … but her last couple albums were pretty terrible so, yeah, I’m hoping she’ll make a big musical comeback with Love? This video looks hot. I understand it will be be premiered on The Today Show in early May so … let’s be on the look out for it. Are any of y’all excited for J. Lo‘s musical return?

Chris Hemsworth Does ‘Men’s Health’ Magazine

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 12:08 PM PDT

Chris Hemsworth, who just world premiered his new superhero film Thor over the weekend in Australia, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Men’s Health magazine. In his coverstory interview, Chris talks about what it was like working with film legend Sir Anthony Hopkins (who plays the Norse god Odin in Thor) and reveals who some of his other fave actors in Hollywood are. He also shares some personal info from his childhood in Oz and talks about his love of acting. Check out Chris‘s Men’s Health coverphoto and some interview excerpts below.

On his role models, including Anthony Hopkins: "Anthony Hopkins. His whole approach to this business, his work ethic and attitude on set was inspiring, however many films down the track he still has that and he still is excited to be there and treats everyone as equals and everything he does, he is an impressive person. I love Paul Giamatti, Johnny Depp, Al Pacino and Matt Damon, ya know, I could go on and on."

On fearlessly searching caves in Australia as a kid: "We built wooden swords and hammered nails into them, and we checked out the cave. My friends and I were convinced we'd meet some ghosts and devils."

On why he loves being an actor: "I always loved film, but never thought about it as a career choice. I had a different idea of what I wanted to do professionally every week. You know, I was a lawyer one week, a doctor, a sportsman in some way, and then I found out I can pretend to do all those things in acting."

Chris Hemsworth is on the brink of superstardom so it’s nice to hear that he is still very down to earth in interviews. The lead role in a film like Thor will likely make Hemsworth a household name here in the US … so I hope he retains his down to earthness. I am really looking forward to seeing his work in Thor and I’m rabidly eating up any interviews he does for the film’s promotion. It sounds like he is more than just a pretty face. He sounds like a genuinely nice guy, don’t he?

Rue & Thresh Have Been Cast In ‘The Hunger Games’

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 11:47 AM PDT

In March we learned that Jennifer Lawrence won the coveted lead role as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming film adaption of the hugely successful novel The Hunger Games. A few weeks ago, we learned that the male leads Peeta and Gale will be played by actors Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth respectively. Today we learn from Entertainment Weekly magazine that the characters Rue and Thresh, the tributes from District 11, have been cast as well. Newcomers Amanda Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi will play Rue and Thresh in the big screen adaptation.

Lionsgate has set its sights on District 11: EW has confirmed exclusively that the studio has cast Hollywood newcomers Dayo Okeniyi and Amanda Stenberg as Thresh and Rue in the adaptation of the Suzanne Collins trilogy, directed by Gary Ross. Okeniyi, playing the intimidatingly strong tribute, has appeared in a short called Eyes to See and an upcoming horror film, Slew Hampshire. Stenberg, who is on board as Katniss' arena ally Rue, has roles in the September's Colombiana and the telefilm Taste of Romance. The Hunger Games is due to release March 23, 2012.

These are 2 of my fave characters of The Hunger Games, and altho I don’t know either Amanda or Dayo‘s work, they sure look the parts they have been cast to play. There has been a lot of talk about having Willow Smith play the role of Rue but clearly that’s not the way the studio wanted to go. There are still 2 sets of tributes from Districts 1 – 10 to be cast — 20 more roles … PLUS, other major roles like Katniss‘s family, Haymitch and more. I’m really curious to see who else will get a role in The Hunger Games. Any casting news, to be honest, is exciting for me. I wonder who’ll get cast next. As for these two actors, what do you think of their casting in The Hunger Games?

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Get Smoochy In NYC

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 11:15 AM PDT

Earlier this month there was a report going around that Twilight co-stars and rumored lovebirds Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart decided to end their relationship by going on a “a break”. Last night, R. Pattz and K. Stew looked to be very happily together as they celebrated the NYC premiere of his new film Water for Elephants. The couple were spotted sharing a sweet kiss in their car … making it very clear that the couple are still very much together.

Oooooooooooooh … look at ‘em go! I think these photos are the clearest ones yet that show Rob and Kristen lookin’ so much in love. There have been shadowy kiss photos before … but these are pretty clear. It seems that they finally decided to show the paparazzi that they are, indeed, a couple. They look cute don’t they? Do you love these photos or what?

Being Lazy

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 11:05 AM PDT

So … after our very LONG travel day Saturday and the lack of sleep we got upon our very late arrival here in NYC, yesterday turned out to be the laziest of days … and I mean la-zy. After work, I read for a bit … and then passed out. David and his sisters got out to enjoy the weather but, yeah, I was asleep for most of my Sunday. I did rally around dinner time so that we could all hang out for a bit on our first day in the city. David’s sister Eden suggested we go out for ice cream … and cupcakes … and doughnuts. Needless to say, that got me up and out of the house.

Eden took us to a place called Holey Cream which specializes in ice cream sandwiches made out of DOUGHNUTS and ice cream. I mean … DELISH. I stuffed my face on far too many sweets to share with all y’all and still keep my dignity … needless to say, doughnuts, cupcakes and ice cream all come together to make wonderful desserts :)

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I read some more (I’m SO close to finishing the final Hunger Games book) and called it an early night.

Today, David and I are meeting up with some friends for dinner and drinks so … I’m really looking forward to that :) It’s supposed to rain here in in NYC tomorrow but, meh, I don’t mind. We’ve got a couple of Broadway shows on our calendar and I’m seeing PJ Harvey with my dear friend Irene on Wednesday so … it should be a great week :D

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Calls Democrats ‘Pussies’, Mike Huckabee A Molester

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 09:21 AM PDT

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who just completed his second stint on Broadway in his show American Idiot, sat down with Details magazine to talk about a range of topics from fatherhood, to punkness to politics. It’s when he is asked to discuss the political climate here in the US that his interview gets really interesting. He refers to the Democrats as a “bunch of pussies” and to Republican governor Mike Huckabee as “the guy that diddled you while holding the Bible”. Clearly, Armstrong is not afraid to share how he really feels about things. Read on for some of Billie Joe‘s more colorful quotes from his new Details magazine interview.

On fatherhood: “It’s hard. I’ve been playing rock and roll since I was 16 years old, and now I have a 16-year-old. There’s no better meter for knowing your age than seeing a real 16-year-old. People always think they’re so young at heart. I see my son, and I’m like, ‘Aw, fuck, I feel old.’”

On whether being “punk enough” matters: “On a certain level, but that’s always been a love-hate thing with me. And for the first time in my life, I realize how shit on we were by our own community. I get so mad that when I run into these people on the street, they’re lucky I don’t have a fucking knife in my boot. The only thing we ever did was realize our potential and push it. I did get nostalgic for the old days at one point, but now? No fucking way.”

On the risk of being too political: "It dawned on me at the end of the last tour that things had become heavy. It's a fucking balancing act, man. And you don't want to always write about politics just for the sake of writing about politics. I don't want to become Rage Against the Machine. Bono is having lunch with George Bush to get money from him. I don't operate that way. I stick to my opinions."

On today's political climate: "The Democrats are a bunch of fucking pussies. It was so smart for the Republicans to embrace the Tea Party: 'We don't believe everything you say, but we'll listen to you.' I get more confused every day. Then I feel like I'm not doing enough. It starts to make my head explode. Maybe I should go talk to the troops in Afghanistan."

On Sarah Palin: "I listen to the shit that comes out of her mouth, and I'm just in awe. These are Sunday-school teachers becoming politicians. Mike Huckabee? He's the guy that diddled you while holding the Bible. He's so soft-spoken, so Mr. Rogers. Palin is the same—it's this sneaky way to make Americans feel comfortable, but you know they're rotten to the core."

IMHO, I can’t say that I totally agree with everything that Billie Joe believes politically … but I can appreciate that he is unafraid to express his opinions. As I mentioned before, I really did not like the Green Day Broadway show American Idiot (at all) but as a band, I really do enjoy their catalog of music. Those first Green Day albums really helped shape my musical tastes in the early/mid 90′s. It’s when Green Day turns an album into a thematic opus that they lose me. I miss the albums they put out that were a collection of songs that told different stories … their thematic, usually political albums are too stifling and not interesting enough for me. But … I digress. Any Green Day fans in the hiz? What do y’all think of Billie Joe‘s political beliefs? I wonder if Mike Huckabee will want to respond.

Choreographer Brian Friedman Reveals That He Is NOT Working On Britney Spears’s Summer Tour

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 08:55 AM PDT

Brian Friedman, who was hired to choreograph Britney Spears‘s music videos for Hold It Against Me and Till the World Ends along with her recent live promo appearances in Las Vegas, on Good Morning America and on Jimmy Kimmel Live, has posted a message on his official Twitter profile announcing that he will not be working on Britney‘s upcoming Summer tour. Citing “scheduling conflicts”, Friedman confesses that he will not be able to work on The Femme Fatale Tour. HMMMM.

Here are all the tweets that Friedman posted about his not working on Britney‘s tour:

… [Y]ou’ve got it wrong once again. Why must you always try and read into hidden messages that don’t exist? So annoying. / … some1s claiming I was let go from Brits tour which is untrue. Whoever it was just check your facts / To put rumors and questions to rest… / Due 2 scheduling conflicts Im not able 2 work on Brits FF tour. Im so thankful 2 have had the opportunity 2 reconnect on videos & promo tho! / Jamie King will be directing the tour again & has a great line up of new choreographers! Everyone make sure to go & support! I’ll be there!

Rumor and speculation has been running rampant ever since this news was made public. Some believe that Friedman was fired because of the lackluster response received about his recent choreography work with Britney, other’s believe he left Britney‘s employ because he no longer wanted to be held captive by the constraints of Britney‘s management. Whatever the case may be (and I suspect his departure has a little to do with both scenarios), Brian Friedman will NOT be choreographing Britney‘s tour. I suppose, in the end, it’s for the best. Brian, IMHO, did a great job with Brit‘s videos and live performances but it makes sense that her team might want to bring in fresh blood for the tour. I understand that Jaquel Knight, the choreographer of Beynocé‘s smash music video for Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) will be one of the choreographers for Britney‘s tour. Knight worked previously on Britney‘s Circus tour a couple of years ago so I think he’ll do a fine job this time around. What do y’all think about this? Are you happy that Friedman won’t be working on Britney‘s tour? Why do YOU think he wasn’t hired for the job?

Tom Brady Steps Out With His Lil’ Patriot Benjamin Rein

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 08:03 AM PDT

Earlier today we got to see an ADORABLE photo shared by Neil Patrick Harris of his partner David Burtka and the couple’s twin babies and right now we get to see more cute celebrity baby photos. New England Patriots football player Tom Brady was spotted out and about with his baby boy Benjamin Rein in Brentwood, CA this weekend. As you can see in the photos below, Benjamin was outfitted with his very own Patriots hat … lookin’ like a cute little chip off the ol’ block.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen photos of little Benjamin Rein … when last we saw him, it was October and he was frolicking nekkid in the ocean with his mother Gisele Bündchen (who was fully dressed, mind you) while on vacation in Miami, FL. Even with the Patriots hat on, Ben looks more like his mother … which means the kid is going to grow up to be a stunning beauty himself. There is something so adorable about seeing dads with their babies. Aren’t these two the cutest? Adorbs!

‘Water For Elephants’ Premieres In NYC

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 07:38 AM PDT

Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz were joined by fellow actors and other luminaries at the NYC premiere of their new film Water for Elephants which took place at the Ziegfeld Theatre last night. R. Pattz and Reese posed awkwardly for a few red carpet photos but it’s unclear if the awkwardness came from Reese‘s recent interview in Vogue magazine (where she referred to her love scenes with Rob as “unpleasant”) or Rob‘s general inability to handle press situations with any sort of suave smoothness. Check out some photos from last night’s premiere event below.

After already complaining about getting intimate with Twilight star Robert Pattinson this week, Reese Witherspoon was once again forced to cozy up close to her younger co-star tonight. The pair shared an uncomfortable cuddle as they posed for pictures on the red-carpet for the premiere of their new film, Water For Elephants, at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. The awkward embrace comes after the 35-year-old actress revealed that her steamy sex scenes with the 24-year-old were anything but enjoyable. Reese described her kissing scenes with the Twilight hunk as ‘unpleasant’. ‘He had a very runny nose,’ she told MTV, adding: ‘It wasn't appealing. It wasn't pleasant.’ Reese, who married talent agent Jim Toth last month, offered her co-star some advice for his future kissing scenes too. ‘Bring a Sudafed,’ she joked. Reese could barely force a smile on the arm of Robert, who had his arm wrapped around her waist. The duo appeared more comfortable when they posed with their co-star Hal Holbrook, who plays the older version of Pattinison’s character. Regardless of their lacklustre chemistry, the pair looked equally elegant for tonight’s occasion.

LOL! This story was just too funny not to share. I sincerely doubt that Reese had to “force a smile” to be near Rob. Her comments to Vogue were very tongue-in-cheek and, IMHO, quite hilarious. I think the fact that she can share that kind of humor about her work with Rob shows that the couple are very comfortable with one another. In any event, last night’s premiere party for Water for Elephants went off smoothly, without a hitch. I expect the promo train will make its way to LA for at least one more premiere before the film opens in theaters on Friday. It seems like we’ve been talking about this film forever … are any of y’all planning to see it opening night?

Report: Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress Will Be Made By Libélula Designer Sophie Cranston

Posted: 18 Apr 2011 06:35 AM PDT

With just a couple weeks left until the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, we are today hearing new information about one of the biggest details about the ceremony — the wedding dress. Altho the Royal Family has yet to officially confirm the news, it is being reported that Libélula designer Sophie Cranston has been chosen as Middleton‘s wedding dress designer. Kate wore a velvet coat designed by Cranston at another wedding back in January, so we know she’s a fan. Read on for all the reported deets about this latest Royal Wedding rumor.

Who will make Kate Middleton’s wedding dress of the century has undoubtedly been one of the biggest fashion questions over the last few months. And now, finally, we can reveal that Kate’s wedding dress designer is not Sarah Burton, Bruce Oldfield or Alice Temperley, but a very talented British designer called Sophie Cranston, of the Libélula label. Yes, according to Yvonne York of the Huffington Post, the 34-year-old South London-based designer has won the coveted job of creating the royal wedding dress. Yvonne suggests it is likely there will be more than one dress made by Sophie, much like Princess Diana’s dressmakers, David and Elizabeth Emanuel, had a “back-up” dress in case something happened to the first one. It is suggested the reason the palace did not announce the designer’s name (as they did with the Emanuels who were confirmed just one month after Diana’s engagement) was to protect Cranston and her family from media scrutiny for as long as possible, and to allow her the freedom to create the wedding gown of Catherine’s dreams without additional pressures and distractions. It’s stressful enough to make an unforgettable gown that will be seen by billions around the world and which will be immortalised in royal and fashion history. A St James Palace spokesperson would not confirm or deny the news, saying only: “We are not being drawn on any speculation on the wedding and cannot comment.” Cranston won the Designer of the Year Award at London’s Graduate Fashion Week in 1999 and then went on to hone her design skills under the tutelage of Alexander McQueen before going into business with Alice Temperley to create the Temperley label in 2000. A couple of years later, Cranston left for Andalusia, Spain to pursue her interest in flamenco and her time at Costa La Luz inspired her to create her own label Libélula, which means dragonfly in Spanish … Since establishing Libélula in 2002, Cranston has gradually acquired a loyal celebrity clientele list, including Kate and the Middleton ladies, as well as Emma Watson, Jerry Hall and writer Celia Warden who married fellow journalist Piers Morgan last year in a Libélula gown.

Apparently, the reporter who broke this news has known about Cranston‘s selection as the Royal Wedding dress designer for months:

Through my insider sources, I’ve heard who was designing Catherine’s wedding dress four months ago but kept it a secret in accordance with palace wishes, only divulging in my Huffington Post story last December that the designer is a young, relatively unknown British woman. At the time, everyone else was certain that Bruce Oldfield was the chosen designer. The relentless media speculation then moved on to a host of other names such as Alice Temperley, and even Victoria Beckham, before settling on front-runner Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.

At this point, everyone seems to believe that this report about Cranston is true. With only 2 weeks left until the big day, I’m certain we’ll be hearing an official confirmation of the dress designer soon. I’m not familiar with Cranston‘s work — at all — but it sounds like she has the skills and pedigree to get the job done. I can’t WAIT to see what Kate‘s dress will look like, no matter who designs it, it’s sure to be a stunner.
