Jesus Take The Wheel: Barely Legal Dad Bagged For Beating Newborn To Death

Gregory Gray Demi Gray newborn murder

What could a child who can barely move yet possibly do to deserve this?

Bronx police today charged a father with killing his 8-week-old infant girl, authorities said.

Little Demi Gray died after she was brought to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital on Wednesday. Details were sketchy but the city’s Medical Examiner investigated and determined her death was a homicide.

Police said they arrested her father, Gregory Gray, 21, of 1770 Davidson Avenue in the Morris Heights section. He was charged with manslaughter in the first and second degree.

The medical examiner said she died of “blunt force trauma,” meaning she was beaten to death.

ACS said it is currently investigating the case but refused to say whether they had been in contact with the family before.
The infant’s mother, who was not identified, and the father, brought her to the hospital, authorities said.

And no, he gets no credit for bringing his two-month-old baby girl to the hospital after beating her.

SMH: Punk A$$ Ex BART Cop Johannes Mehserle Sentenced, Oscar Grant’s Life Is Only Worth Two Years!!!

Posted: 05 Nov 2010 01:59 PM PDT

Johannes Mehserle

Two years later, the injustice against Oscar Grant continues.

A former BART police officer was sentenced to two years in prison Friday — but credited with nearly a year already served in jail — for the slaying for Oscar Grant III on a Bay Area transit system platform in January 2009.

In sentencing Grant, Judge Robert Perry also dismissed a defense motion for a new trial and tossed out a gun enhancement charge saying the evidence was “fundamentally insufficient” to support the jury finding. The gun enhancement would have added another four to 10 years to Johannes Mehserle's sentence.

Mehserle's involuntary manslaughter conviction had a sentencing range of two to four years. State law also allowed Perry consider granting Mehserle probation under unusual circumstances.

Perry credited Mehserle with time served — 292 days. So Mehserle would be serving a little over a year in prison.
In issuing his decision, Perry recognized the community would be upset but said that he did his best and had “not asked for the case.”
John Burris, who represented the Grant family in a civil shot stemming from the shooting, was stunned by the decision as stood with family members in front of the courthouse.

“This is a shocking occurrence,” he said. “I must tell you, I’m not surprised at all having been involved in many cases and seeing the injustices in the system in regards to African Americans.”

Tensions ran high in the courtroom all morning long as a man was escorted out shortly after the motions debate began for an outburst. Perry told the jammed pack Los Angeles County Superior Court courtroom he would not tolerate any outbursts from the crowd.

The trial has been transferred to Los Angeles from Alameda County in a change of venue decision.

Perry read more than a dozen letters for and against Mehserle, noting that some details were “flat-out wrong.” He cited one letter that inaccurately described Grant as handcuffed when he was shot. Letters in support of the former officer stated that racial tensions had blown the case out of proportion.

Keith Olbermann Gets Lowkey Fired From MSNBC… For Supporting Democrats?

Posted: 05 Nov 2010 01:17 PM PDT

Keith Olbermann MSNBC Countdown Suspended

Continuing the recent network trend of preemptively reacting to some sh*t viewers might take issue with, MSNBC decided to suspend its most popular anchor Keith Olbermann today.

Here’s the backstory:

Keith Olbermann, the top anchor on MSNBC, was suspended on Friday after the channel discovered that he made campaign contributions to three Democrats last month.

The MSNBC president, Phil Griffin, issued a statement saying: "I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."

Politico had reported Friday morning that Mr. Olbermann's contributions were in apparent violation of MSNBC policy.

In a statement to Politico, Mr. Olbermann, the longtime host of "Countdown," had acknowledged donations of $2,400 to the campaigns of Representatives Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona and Attorney General Jack Conway of Kentucky, who lost his Senate race to Rand Paul.

Several hours later, Mr. Griffin released the statement about the suspension.

No one at NBC News, MSNBC's parent, would speculate about what this might mean for Mr. Olbermann's future, though one NBC executive privately suggested this was not a step toward firing him.

Here’s the kicker thought: the whole violation of “NBC News policy and standards” thing is really the secondary reason Olbermann was fired.

In suspending Mr. Olbermann, NBC appeared to be trying to differentiate itself from the Fox News Channel, a unit of the News Corporation. NBC executives privately said that they saw a chance to draw a distinction between the journalistic standards of their news division and the standards of Fox, a favorite of Republicans. Media Matters, a liberal media monitoring group that opposes Fox, noted on Friday afternoon that two Fox News hosts, Neil Cavuto and Sean Hannity, had given money to Republican politicians in the past.

To add insult to injury, Olbermann’s “temporary” replacement is someone who’s been known to make campaign contributions to Dems too… but it’s okay, because he’s not an MSNBC employee.

Does this even make sense? How is Olbermann cutting a check any different or worse than the Democratic Party cheerleading he does on almost every episode of “Countdown?”
