Ryan Reynolds Pays A Visit To ‘Sesame Street’

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 02:34 PM PDT

Ryan Reynolds is the latest hottie celeb to pay a visit and make an appearance on Sesame Street. In recent weeks, we saw cute videos of Colin Farrell and Jude Law on Sesame Street and today we get to see an even cuter video of Ryan on everyone’s favorite children’s TV show:

Yes, that’s Ryan wearing a big A costume. In the short clip, Ryan and friends sing a theme song for the Sesame Street version of the “A” Team. Check out the video in full, after the jump …

So cute … I mean. OY! As if Ryan Reynolds wasn’t swoon-worthy enough. GAH! I love this vid.

Shannen Doherty Releases & Signs Her New Book

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 02:18 PM PDT

Back in April we first learned that Shannen Doherty was planning the release of her first book and this week, that book is now available for purchase in stores. Shannen was on hand to do an in-store booksigning of her new book Badass: A Hard-Earned Guide to Living Life with Style and (the Right) Attitude at the Borders Books & Music in Columbus Circle in NYC, NY last night … behold:

There have been a rash of new celebrity written books (both Nicole Richie and Hilary Duff recently released new novels) but Shannen‘s book is a more personal, non-fiction tome. I can’t help but be intrigued by Shannen‘s book … I’ve yet to pick up a copy but I deffo plan to. I’ve been a big Shannen Doherty fan for years, it’ll be pretty cool to read her very own book. Are any of y’all plannin’ on procuring Badass now that it’s available?

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino Does ‘Men’s Fitness’ Magazine

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 01:40 PM PDT

Jersey Shore phenom and Dancing with the Stars loser Mike The Situation Sorrentino is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Men’s Fitness magazine. As you can see, The Situation looks about as confused as to why he is on the cover of Men’s Fitness as I am … behold:

LOL … he just looks … dorky. Men’s Fitness usually does a great job when they choose the ripped and hot men to grace their covers … I really think they missed the mark this time. As much as I hate to admit it, The Situation does have fantastic abs … unfortch, they don’t look all that fantastic on this cover … they look airbrushed and fake. After the jump, check out one more silly photo of Sorrentino in Men’s Fitness magazine and read his 8 Fit Rules

01) Eat every few hours. Aim for six small meals per day—three meals and three protein shakes.

02) Drink tons of water.

03) Choose lean proteins, fruits, and veggies whenever you can.

04) Get six to eight hours of sleep. “Sleep is when your body grows and repairs itself,” he says.

05) Avoid simple carbs and junk calories, including condiments like mayo and jelly.

06) Approach fitness as a longterm lifestyle, not an instant transformation. Be dedicated, patient, and work hard for it.

07) Make working out your No. 1 commitment, because it builds the confidence and discipline you need to succeed in every domain of your life.

08) Give yourself one “cheat day” per week when you can eat whatever you want and recover from your training.

Okay, The Sitch‘s body looks much better in this second photo but the pose is all wrong. He just was not made to be a model, period. I will say his 8 Fit Rules sound pretty right on … but, I’m guessing he had a little help compiling this list. All in all, Mr. Situation might make a great fitness guru but lookin’ pretty in magazine’s is something he still needs to work on.

A Closer Look At Tom Cruise’s Latest Movie Stunt

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 01:03 PM PDT

On Monday we got to see some pretty incredible photos of Tom Cruise filming a very intense and dangerous stunt on the world’s tallest building on the Dubai set of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol … and today we get to check out a couple more photos of Tom in action. While the photos we saw previously were snapped from afar, these new photos were snapped up close and personal:

There were some who did not believe that it was actually Tom Cruise that we saw in the photos before but there is no denying, it’s definitely him. These cool photos were snapped from inside the Burj Kahlifa building while Tom filmed his M:I 4 scenes. I gotta say, I’m still really damn impressed that Tom would choose to do this sort of very dangerous stunt work himself … that being said, I’ve always suspected that Tom was a little nuts — this is proof positive.

Cher Does ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 12:48 PM PDT

The immortal Cher is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine. Cher‘s VF coverstory is timed for the release of her new film Burlesque (which also stars Christina Aguilera who is featured on the cover of the new issue of Redbook magazine) and is chock full of amazing quotes from the true HBIC. Here is our first look at Cher‘s Vanity Fair coverphoto and some excerpts from her accompanying interview:

Cher tells Vanity Fair West Coast editor Krista Smith that she can't believe "Sonny and I still aren't in the [Rock and Roll] Hall of Fame, and it just seems kind of rude. Sonny was a good writer, and we started something that no one else was doing. We were weird hippies before there was a name for it, when the Beatles were wearing sweet little haircuts and round-collared suits…. We influenced a generation, and it's like: What more do you want?" As for her daughter turned son, Chaz, Cher says, "If I woke up tomorrow in a guy's body, I would just kick and scream and cry and fucking rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am—a girl. I would not take it as well as Chaz has. I couldn't imagine it." While Cher remains a proud mother, she admits to Smith that she still gets confused: "She's a very smart girl—boy! This is where I get into trouble. My pronouns are fucked. I still don't remember to call her 'him.'" Of her secret to remaining in the spotlight for the past five decades, Cher tells Smith, "I feel like a bumper car. If I hit a wall, I'm backing up and going in another direction. And I've hit plenty of fucking walls in my career. But I'm not stopping. I think maybe that's my best quality: I just don't stop." Cher opens up about her feelings for Sonny, and their tumultuous marriage, saying that Sonny "told me when we were together, 'One day you are going to leave me. You are going to go on and do great things.' … I wouldn't have left him if he hadn't had such a tight grip—such a tight grip." Cher tells Smith that Sonny treated her "more like a golden goose than like his wife…. I forgive him, I think. He hurt me in so many ways, but there was something. He was so much more than a husband—a terrible husband, but a great mentor, a great teacher…. If he had agreed to just disband Cher Enterprises and start all over again, I would have never ever left. Just split it down the middle, 50-50."

Cher is a legend … anytime she opens her mouth, people take notice. She is never the type of woman to dance around an issue, she speaks her mind, she does so boldly and she doesn’t give an eff who she may offend. After the jump, check out one more photo from Cher‘s VF magazine photospread and read some more colorful quotes form the iconic Cher

Cher on Sarah Palin and Jan Brewer: "I got so obsessed with [C-SPAN] that it was kind of interfering with my life. Sarah Palin came on, and I thought, Oh, fuck, this is the end. Because a dumb woman is a dumb woman." On the subject of Arizona governor Jan Brewer, Cher says, "She was worse than Sarah Palin, if that is possible. This woman was like a deer in headlights. She's got a handle on the services of the state, and I would not let her handle the remote control."

Cher on her family and drugs: "It's weird, because both of my children had the same drug problems as their fathers—same drug of choice. My father was a heroin addict, and my sister's father was an alcoholic. But it jumped us…. I didn't not do drugs because of moral issues. I tried a couple of drugs, but I never felt good out of control. I have the constitution of a fruit fly. I can't do coffee, but I can do Dr Pepper."

Cher on aging: "I think Meryl [Streep] is doing it great. The stupid bitch is doing it better than all of us! But I don't like it. It's getting in my way. I have a job to do, and it's making my job harder." "I've been screaming at the top of my lungs at my family, 'Work out! Work out! Old age is coming!' At some point you will need the strength. Who would have ever thought you would get this old?"

Cher on parenting and whether her children are still angry with her: "I think Chaz is pretty much finished with it, and I think Elijah has a little longer to go, but they both really love me a lot. But it's hard." "One time, when Chaz was little, we were on a field trip, and she said, 'I'm so pissed off, Mom. You can never not be Cher—we can never just do something.'"She concludes, "So your kids pay. I did the best I could do, and yet it was definitely lacking."

Cher on paying taxes: "I would be willing to pay a lot more taxes, because I make a lot more money, but I don't want to give them more to just fuck things up more. It really should fall on people like me to get together and do things to help the people in this country. If you're not worrying about how to put food on your table, you [should be] worrying about why other people don't have food on their table. I remember a great America where we made everything. There was a time when the only thing you got from Japan was a really bad cheap transistor radio that some aunt gave you for Christmas."

Yeah, Cher don’t mince words, does she? When you’ve been in the biz as long as Cher has, you kinda earn the right to speak so openly and unabashedly about pretty much anyone and anything. While I’m not all that interested in seeing Burlesque (the trailers just look horrrrrrrible), I’m really glad that Cher is in the film because that means she’ll be doing a lot of interviews. I mean, when she gives answers like this, what’s not love?

Election Daze

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 12:19 PM PDT

Yesterday was Election Day here in the US and for the most part, all of the candidates and propositions that I voted for here in California either won or passed … so, on that front, I am happy:

Naturally, I’m not at all happy with the way many elections turned out in the rest of the country but as a student of political science, I was not only prepared for it … I was expecting it. Midterm elections tend to swing back and forth wildly from one party to the other so it came as no surprise that control of the House of Representatives went to the Republican party. All 435 seats in the House go up for reelection every 2 years so it’s natural that control can change drastically from election to election. I’m actually most concerned about the 2012 election more than anything. We’ll have to see how things turn out in 2 years time.

Last night I met up with my dear Angi for dinner at La Boheme in West Hollywood, CA and we had a fantastic time together. I always have a great time just hanging out and chatting with Angi … tho, eating together adds to the fun, too ;) We had a fine night.

I have tentative plans to hang out with Adriana tonight, so hopefully those plans will pan out. It’s gonna be in the 90′s today here in La today … so, yeah, it’s gonna be a Hot Hump Day!

Tim Gunn Weighs In On The Season 8 Finale Of ‘Project Runway’

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 10:50 AM PDT

Last Thursday Lifetime TV aired the finale episode of, IMHO, the WORST season of Project Runway in the show’s 8 season life and I was so insulted and offended as a fan by the outcome of the final judging that I couldn’t even blog about the outcome because I felt so let down by a show that I once loved so fiercely. Entertainment Weekly posted an inspired episode recap HERE that really spoke for me and, I’m sure, many of the loyal PR fans who felt slighted by the outcome of this most recent season of the show. Curiously, judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors (the ones responsible for choosing the winning designer this season) canceled interviews to discuss the finale of Project Runway (most notably, they canceled an interview with Entertainment Weekly) and, in fact, no one involved with the show wants to talk about or defend what I feel was the WORST judging mistake in Project Runway history. The amazing Tim Gunn, tho, did go on the record … kinda … about the outcome of this season of Project Runway in comments he made at a Kate Spade event in Pennsylvania over the weekend:

After the jump, check out video of Tim Gunn‘s comments about the season 8 finale outcome of Project Runway

I effing LOVE Tim Gunn. He keeps it real and tells it like it is. Make sure you watch the video to the very end … his final gesture about this season’s winner (I don’t even want to type out their name) is just brilliant. I’m fairly certain I am done with Project Runway … the show was just so bad all season 8 long and the finale ep was just the final straw. If I do change my mind, it’ll be because Tim Gunn is on the show. I love Tim very much but, yeah, I really think that PR is dead to me.

Christina Aguilera Does ‘Redbook’ Magazine

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 10:27 AM PDT

Last month we first heard that Redbook magazine managed to land the first interview with Christina Aguilera just days after it was announced that she was divorcing her husband Jordan Bratman (I’m guessing that Redbook had already scheduled their interview with Xtina before the split announcement was made and they just got really lucky with timing). Today we get our first look at Xtina on the cover of the new issue of Redbook and we get to read a few excerpts from her coverstory interview. In addition to discussing her split from Jordy, Xtina talks to Redbook about her work, her loyal girlfriends and her devotion to son Max Liron:

Christina Aguilera’s career is soaring to new heights, even as her personal life hits a low — and in the December issue of REDBOOK, Aguilera talks candidly about the breakup of her marriage and what gets her out of bed in the morning: inspiring work, loyal girlfriends, and devotion to her little boy, Max. Plus, she opens up about balancing work and motherhood, her career, and big-screen debut — and Cher, who became a close confidante to Christina on the set of Burlesque, also reveals details from the set.

On men vs. women: “Every woman has the ability or the drive to do it all and have it all,” says Christina, who separated from her husband, Jordan Bratman, just two days before REDBOOK’s photos were taken. “Men aren’t as strong and capable as we are. We’re machines.”

On balancing work and motherhood: “My life is cyclical. First it’s album time, then it’s touring time. I go through phases, so we roll with the punches. I’m not a 9-to-5 woman who has the same kind of lifestyle for years on end. I couldn’t do it. I need the spontaneity, that thrill of change. That’s part of how I get inspired. You know, this is what the cards have in store for Max. We put it into his brain early on that he’s a traveling guy. He adapts well when we go from hotel to hotel.”

Christina’s close friend, Nicole Richie is a key member of her support system: “It’s very clear through Christina’s music what a strong woman she is,” Nicole told REDBOOK. “But to watch her as a mother only skyrockets the respect I have for her. She is the woman who’s recording until 4 a.m. and up at 7 to be with her son. Her dedication to Max is incredible.”

Naturally, you’ll have to pick up this issue of Redbook, which will be available on newsstands on November 16, to read everything that Xtina had to say about her split, etc. … but considering that Redbook got the story straight from Xtina herself just days after the news broke, it might deffo be worth a read. After the jump, check out one of the photos from Xtina‘s new Redbook photospread …

Thank you Redbook and the Sweet Baby Jebus for NOT letting Xtina wear her beloved yet garish red lipstick. She looks so much better when her make-up isn’t so severe. This is a great shot of the newly single Xtina … it would appear that she is having no problem taking the end of her marriage in stride. She looks fantastic no? And, I gotta ask … what do y’all think of Xtina‘s quote about men vs. women?

Jared Leto Strips Down For The New 30 Seconds To Mars Music Video

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 10:00 AM PDT

A couple of weeks ago 30 Seconds to Mars frontman (and sometimes actor) Jared Leto posted a shirtless photo of himself along with the caption “Real Men Wear Skirts” on his official Twitter profile … today we learn that his shirtless served a purpose. Jared and 30StM were filming a new music video for their new single Hurricane and the skirt sans shirt look was necessary for the video shoot. Here are a couple promo photos that were shot on the set of the Hurricane music video set:

As some of you may know, Hurricane is the song that 30StM recorded with Kanye West on guest vocals … and while Kanye will be heard on the track in this music video, it’s not entirely clear if he will appear in the video as well. My guess is that yes, Kanye will appear in the video because we all know how unshy Kanye is about appearing anywhere. If they’re smart, 30StM will stay mum on Kanye‘s possible appearance in the vid until Hurricane gets released. To be honest, I could care less if Kanye West is in the video or not … as long as Jared is gonna be shirtless in the video, I’ll deffo be checkin’ it out.

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Do Baby Talk With ‘US Weekly’ Magazine

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 09:26 AM PDT

Now that news of Mariah Carey‘s pregnancy is officially out, she and hubby Nick Cannon are talking to any and EVERYONE about their joyous news. Yesterday, we saw a clip from Mimi‘s interview appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and today we get to read some excerpts from Mr. & Mrs. Cannon‘s interview with US Weekly magazine … yes, folks … they’re talking to any and EVERYONE:

After suffering a miscarriage following her April 2008 wedding to Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey cried herself to sleep many nights. But in an exclusive interview in the new Us Weekly (on newsstands now), the singer says she and Cannon never gave up. Though she dismisses reports that she did IVF, Carey tells Us Weekly she began taking progesterone, a hormone that is often prescribed to boost fertility and support or help maintain pregnancy in women susceptible to miscarriage. Cannon also tells Us Weekly his wife relied on “once-a-day” acupuncture, “all over her body. I think it helped her quite a bit, because it was a good destressor.” Seeing Carey’s face when they learned she was pregnant “was priceless,” Cannon recalls. “We definitely cried. We still cry all the time. It’s an emotional journey.” With their baby due in spring, Carey says it still “amazes” her she’s going to have Cannon’s child. “He’s a great person, and we have more in common than not,” she tells Us Weekly. “I know people initially were, ‘What? Those two?’ But I think people who know us get it.”

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing Mariah and Nick talk about their happy baby news … and I don’t care how the pregnancy came to be. I’m just thrilled for the both of them that they’ve got a baby on the way and I wish them nothing but all the happiness in the world. Mariah has a lot of promo work on the horizon, not the least of which is an upcoming Xmas special she is taping here in LA in the next couple of weeks. I’m guessing she’s gonna work her ass off for as long as she can but once her bump starts to get really big, she’ll drop everything and just relax until the baby is born. I highly doubt she’ll do anything even remotely close to endangering her pregnancy. I can only imagine how thrilled Mariah and Nick are right now … no wonder they’re happy to talk to anyone about their incubating baby :)

Cirque Du Soleil Does The Music Of Michael Jackson

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 08:40 AM PDT

Back in April we learned that the estate of Michael Jackson teamed up with Cirque du Soleil to produce a new show that would marry the iconic music of the late King of Pop with the theatrical magic of Cirque du Soleil. As soon as the partnership was announced, Papa Joseph Jackson went on the record to voice his displeasure with the planned show. But, the show is a go and today TMZ brings us our first look at the official poster artwork for Michael Jackson: The Immortal Tour by Cirque du Soleil:

Cirque Du Soleil is unveiling the images that will drive what could be the biggest show under the big top ever — driven by Michael Jackson’s music … and TMZ got hold of the image that will drive the production. The world tour is a partnership between the MJ Estate and Cirque — each sharing 50% of the profits. It will kick off in the Fall of next year in Canada, and work its way south to the US of A. The show will end up with a permanent home at an MGM Mirage hotel in Las Vegas — probably in late 2012. This project — unlike some others — got the thumbs up from Katherine Jackson.

Yes, Katherine is on board with this planned Cirque show, Papa Joe is not (very probably because he won’t get a red cent from the show at all). Cirque du Soleil has enjoyed much success with their shows that feature the music of The Beatles and Elvis Presley so it makes perfect sense that they would want to work with the music of Michael Jackson. I kinda love that this show will tour for a while before it settles in and takes residency in Las Vegas, NV. This way, fans all over North America will be able to see the show in their hometown … especially those who cannot make it to Las Vegas. It’ll be very excited to see what the folks at Cirque du Soleil put together for a show of this magnitude. I’m very confident that Michael Jackson: The Immortal Tour will be quite a sight to see.

Jake Gyllenhaal Does British ‘Esquire’ Magazine

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 08:09 AM PDT

Our dear Jake Gyllenhaal, who stars in the new film Love and Other Drugs out in theaters this month, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of British Esquire magazine. In his coverstory interview, Jakey poo talks about “sex” with co-star Anne Hathaway, gettin’ nekkid on set and his intense love of women. Yeah. Here is our first look at Jake‘s Esquire coverphoto and some excerpts from the accompanying interview:

On how to get Anne Hathaway into bed: “We talked about what we thought was sexy, about what were the things that interested us, and through the discussion became pretty intimate with each other.”

On sex scenes with Anne: “Annie and I had already had sex on film (in Brokeback Mountain). There's something about the way Annie and I both work which is inherently very musical. It’s all about rhythm. There’s a rhythm to writing, there’s a rhythm to sports, there’s a rhythm to sex.”

On letting it all hang out on set: “Annie, because as a woman I think it’s harder. She said at one point, ‘Well, we’re both topless and we both show our butts.’ And I was like, ‘Hmm, but it’s a little different for you.’”

On admiration for his sister, Maggie: “I admire her and continue to admire her. That might play into the reason I don’t have much of a problem letting the women I’ve worked with shine. I love women.”

You know, call me crazy but, the more I hear about these sex scenes in Love and Other Drugs, the more I want to see the film. To be honest, the trailers for the film that I’ve seen thus far haven’t done much to grab my attention … the film strikes me as another of those throwaway romantic comedies that I see sometimes but do not feel compelled by any means to have to see … well, except for the fact that it stars Jake Gyllenhaal. I’m curious to see just how much of Jake we get to see in this new movie. For now, we’ll have to content ourselves with seeing Jake in photos shot for this new issue of Esquire magazine — which you can check out, after the jump …

Alas, Jake is fully clothed in each of these photos … my hope is that he’s saving all his nekkidness for the film and that the film will offer A LOT of nekkidness to behold. I don’t want to get my hopes up too high but … well, I guess we’ll have to wait and see when Love and Other Drugs hits theaters on November 24. This issue of British Esquire magazine hits newsstands on Thursday November 4.

Did Bret Michaels Have An Affair With Tish Cyrus?

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 07:22 AM PDT

Last week we learned the pretty surprising news that after 17 years of marriage, Billy Ray and Leticia Tish Cyrus decided to call it quits and end their marriage. For the most part, no one has been talking about why the couple decided to split after so many years of assumed happily wedded bliss … until now. US Weekly magazine is reporting that one of the main reasons why Billy Ray filed for divorce from his wife Tish was because she reportedly engaged in an affair with rocker Bret Michaels. As you may know, Michaels got pretty close to the family this year after he and Miley Cyrus started recording music together … but if this new report is to be believed, it was Bret and Tish who really got close this year:

The reason Miley Cyrus’ parents are splitting after 17 years of marriage: Mom Tish had an affair with rocker Bret Michaels, reports the new Us Weekly (on newsstands Wednesday). When Billy Ray learned of it – as well as at least one other fling – he filed for divorce Oct. 27, sources tell Us Weekly. Michaels, 47, “became close to the entire family” this past February when he and Miley released the racy duet “Nothing to Lose,” an insider tells Us Weekly. He and Tish, 43, soon began carrying on an on-the-sly romance, sources tell Us Weekly. Tish was seen at Michaels’ Feb. 28 show at the Key Club in L.A., and he had once asked her production company's help to adapt his book, Roses & Thorns, into a movie. “Billy Ray was completely unaware of what was going on,” the source says of the “Achy Breaky Heart” crooner, who is seeking joint custody of their three minor children, Miley (who turns 18 Nov. 23), Braison, 16, and Noah, 10. (They have three older children from previous relationships.) Though a rep for Michaels refutes the allegations, telling Us Weekly, “There has never been an affair or a fling,” and a rep for Tish also denies the dalliance, the Cyrus source insists, “It was a professional relationship that turned into something more.”

To be fair, it is very easy to throw out cheating allegations like this in the wake of break-up reports … then again, I’m also of the mind that where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Those of you who may be familiar with Bret Michael‘s VH1 reality TV series Rock of Love may know that he has a type of woman that he usually goes for … and that type looks a lot like Tish Cyrus. Does that mean an affair took place? Absolutely not. But something significant might’ve happened that caused the 17-years married Cyrus couple to divorce … and an affair like this seems pretty significant to me. What do y’all think … do you think Bret and Tish got busy together?
