| Kate Middleton in white & black for Trooping the Colour: fabulous or meh? Posted: 11 Jun 2011 06:31 AM PDT Here are some new photos of Kate Middleton and the Duchess of Cornwall at the "Trooping the Color" event today, Saturday. "Trooping the Color" is, from what I understand as an American, just some pomp and pageantry with the royal family and royal guards where everybody does their formations and waves politely. Prince William was with the Irish Guards, wearing his red and black, plus a fancy new-looking bear-skin hat. In case you ever wanted to know what William would look like if he got himself a fabulous black afro toupee, here you go: It kind of works, right? Anyway, the "Trooping the Color" event today was for the Queen's official birthday, but the Queen gets to celebrate her birthday, like, five times a year, so don't ask. As for Kate/Catherine/Waity, she chose to deck herself in a rather spectacular white coat. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I love when newlywed women wear a lot of white. I find it sweet and appropriate, but I think I love it so much because I just love women in white. I don't know who did the coat, but the cut is beautiful. As for Kate's hat… ugh, I'm not a hat person. Sometimes, Kate can pull off a smart hat. I don't find this one all that attractive, though. It looks like a giant satellite dish stapled to her head. By the way, at that ARK charity gala that Kate and Will attended Thursday night, Kate was overheard telling guests that she was enjoying married like. A source revealed: "Kate said she was 'loving it' when asked what married life was like. She added that it was surreal sometimes but that's to be expected. She said she was totally and blissfully happy and her eyes lit up whenever William's name was mentioned. The pair are clearly so in love." Photos courtesy of WENN.      |
| LeAnn Rimes does a photo-op with her stepson Mason, denies sex tape claims Posted: 11 Jun 2011 05:27 AM PDT Here are some new photos of LeAnn Rimes and her stepson Mason Cibrian out and about in LA yesterday. This is one of the few times I've seen photos of LeAnn with one of Eddie and Brandi's kids, without Eddie or Brandi around somewhere. LeAnn gets to be a solo step mom! And a pap-friendly one at that. I know in my heart that these photos are staged, and I know the image LeAnn was aiming for. She's trying to look like A Professional Busy Person Who Happens To Be The World's Greatest (Step) Mother. Through the series of photos, you can actually see that LeAnn had her sunglasses on, and she and Mason were being friendly and cute, but when she saw the paparazzo, she took off the sunglasses, took out her cellphone and tried to pose-but-not-pose. It's kind of sad, really. She should have just been paying attention to Mason, who… let's face it, he's a little heartbreaker already. He's so adorable. And of course LeAnn couldn't just let the photo op go without adding her own caption. She tweeted just a short time after these photos were taken, "When you take your sweet 4 year old stepson to pick out bday gifts for his dad, you gotta make sure to remind him to not tell dad what it is. Good thing, he only “remembered” one thing and the rest he said was a secret! Cool kid cause he totally knows! Lol". Sidenote… Hideous pants. Offensively ugly. Anyway, yesterday CB did a story about LeAnn and the rumor that there's a sex tape floating around with her and her first husband, Dean Sheremet. CB mentioned in an offhand way that I had said to her that the story made me a little bit sympathetic towards LeAnn, because I doubted she was behind "the leak" of a sex tape, if there was one. First, let me clarify. If there was a sex tape of LeAnn and Dean, that would be from a time where LeAnn actually had some flesh and even a little bit of chub. I just don't believe LeAnn would want that to see the light of day, honestly. If there was going to be an "accidental" sex tape release with LeAnn helming the "leak," it would be of her and Eddie, and it would be ALL BONE. In every sense, you know? But… LeAnn can't just sit around and find herself a "victim" by pure chance! Of course not. She has to underline her victimhood by famewhoring the story out on her Twitter. She tweeted: "I hear there are rumors (sic) of a sex tape. I have never filmed myself having sex on tape, period. Haven’t joined that club lol." Ugh, I'll admit it - I believe her, to a certain extent. I don't think she had her first orgasm until she met Eddie. I don't think she and Dean made a sex tape. They were too busy eating popcorn, watching Bridget Jones's Diary and braiding each other's hair. By the way, LeAnn and Eddie attended a screening for the first episode of his new NBC show, The Playboy Club. The screening was at the Playboy mansion. Ruh-roh, right? | Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie donate $500,000 to Joplin, MO recovery effort Posted: 11 Jun 2011 05:26 AM PDT Several weeks ago, in a post about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shopping for Shiloh's fifth birthday, I threw in some quotes Brad had given about the tornados and floods in Missouri, and specifically the devastation in Joplin. I just cut-and-pasted from Fox News, and many of you pointed out that Brad might have made a mistake, or perhaps Fox News made a mistake, because it seemed like Brad was quoted talking about "JOPPA" Missouri. Which doesn't exist. Anyway, I just wanted to apologize for that mixup. I still don't know who made the mistake. Anyway, Brad grew up in Missouri, as we know. And Brad and Angelina have ended up using their charity, The Jolie-Pitt Foundation, for both domestic and international causes. When the foundation makes domestic contributions, it's almost always in and around Springfield, MO, where Brad's parents and much of his family live now. His brother Doug is a prominent businessman, and his parents are very active in the Springfield community, and Brad (and Angelina) have supported many local causes (to see some of our coverage, go here and here and here). Now that so many Missourians are struggling in the wake of flood and tornados, Brad and Angelina have once again made a substantial donation:
[From KSPR] I know some people are going to bitch about this, so whatever. I'm not even going to rise to defend Brad and Angelina to people who froth at the mouth over literally ANYTHING they do. For those of us who find it interesting, I'd like to point out one of the many reasons why I love Brad and Angelina's pattern of giving. It's not JUST the amount of money they donate, or the people that they've helped, or the attention to vital causes that impresses me. I'm consistently impressed with the fact that they not only donate to draw attention to emergency situations, but they also focus money on long-term rebuilding and recovery projects. They don't just think about what people need this week (although they do give extensively to emergency crisis situations) - they're also putting money into projects for people in need months and years down the line. | Victoria Beckham is pulling an Ivanka Trump: “Maternity leave - what’s that?” Posted: 10 Jun 2011 10:40 AM PDT Because I so rarely actually hear Victoria Beckham's voice, I often substitute her voice (in my mind) with Patsy Stone's from Absolutely Fabulous. I was just reminded of that when I was looking at these photos. Victoria is always doing Patsy's pout and I can imagine her screaming "OY!! PEANUTS!" Anyway, Victoria gave an interview to Glamour UK, and she talked about how she's pulling an Ivanka Trump. Meaning that Victoria doesn't know about this whole "maternity leave" situation. Only Ivanka sounded kind of delusional, where Posh sounds nice - and after all, this is her fourth kid. She knows what's up:
[From Glamour Magazine] Ah, it sounds like she's going to take time off when the baby comes, but she's working up until she goes into labor (or gets induced, whatev). And besides, how much is there really to do at her fashion line? Just look at what Roland Mouret is doing and add a few Posh-isms. By the way, I meant to mention this in the Kate Middleton story, but it's pretty much established that William and Kate will be spending some time with David and Victoria while in LA. Here's the thing - Victoria is likely due around the fourth of July (Independence Beckham!!), and some tabloids are saying that Victoria is working her C-section around William and Kate's trip!!! | Jack White & Karen Elson announce their divorce on their 6th wedding anniversary Posted: 10 Jun 2011 09:57 AM PDT Well, this is strange. Hipster couple Jack White (musician/singer, The White Stripes) and his supermodel wife Karen Elson are getting a divorce. They have been married for six years exactly, and took the occasion of their sixth wedding anniversary and impending divorce to throw a party to celebrate. For real:
[From People] I had forgotten that Karen and Jack had kids. I don't even remember seeing Karen pregnant! But she was, twice, apparently. As for the "divorce party"… well, they're both strange birds, and I actually buy that they still care about each other and are committed to being "adult" about their divorce. But I really don't know that much about them - basically, the only thing I've ever read about their relationship was this Vogue piece from last year, where Karen was promoting her new music career (which Jack helped launch).
