Madonna has joined the ranks of celebs to be immortalized in a comic book title of her own by Bluewater Productions and today we get our first look at her first comic book title Female Force: Madonna. This comic, due out in August, will tell the biographical story of Madonna‘s life in cartoon form. "Female Force: Madonna" will be released in August 2011 and have a cover price of $3.99. The bio on the pop icon’s life will be written by CW Cooke and drawn by Michael Johnson. Madonna is arguably the most influential figure in the history of American music. This comic book will focus on her humble beginnings and the incredible events that led to her eventually becoming one of the few people in the world recognized by only their first name! Though she has paved the way for many female pop stars that came after her, from Britney Spears to Lady Gaga to Beyonce she is unique in that while many are compared to her, she is never compared to anyone else. Much like the Britney Spears comic book that we got to preview last January, this Madonna comic book is a must own for music fans and pop culture fans. Without question, Madonna is IMHO the most influential female pop star of our time (if not of recorded History) so it makes total sense that her life would make the perfect subject matter for a comic book like this. In a bid to court viewers and make a splash, Project Runway host Heidi Klum is baring all. The former supermodel’s revealing image, below, is the centerpiece of Lifetime’s promotional campaign for the fashion competition series’ ninth season, set to launch July 28. “This is definitely sexier than past campaigns we’ve done for Project Runway,” says Klum. “I guest you could say ‘Hans and Franz’ are celebrating season nine!” And that, according to Lifetime general manager Nancy Dubuc, is precisely the point. Since taking the helm at the once top-rated network a year ago, Dubuc has strategically pushed both her programming and marketing teams to actively move away from the “women in peril” stereotype that has plagued Lifetime in recent years. Instead, she has tasked her employees to seek out and celebrate female characters who are at once brazen, strong, confident and sexy. But the femme-skewing network’s effort to cut through the clutter won’t stop there. In addition to previously announced celebrity guest judge Kim Kardashian, Runway is adding Malin Ackerman, Christina Ricci and Zoe Saldana to this season’s roster of fashion icons as judges. The Emmy-winning series, which was hijacked from Bravo years earlier, will also feature more designers than ever before. On the show’s premiere episode, they will be forced to go before Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors to make a case for why they deserve one of the 16 coveted spots.
It’s not really very surprising to see Heidi lookin’ so bare for a promo image … you may recall she wore nothing but a hoodie in a promo poster for Stand Up 2 Cancer last Spring. To be honest, I’m actually surprised she hasn’t gotten nekkid for PR sooner. As for the show’s return, ugh, I was SO turned off by the outcome of last season that I can honestly say I’m not at all interested in watching any more. The show really tanked once it left Bravo TV … they need to seriously bring back the magic that made the show great or they should just pack it in and quit altogether. Early last month, singer/songwriter Tori Amos announced the forthcoming release of a new album titled Night of Hunters. Along with the album announcement, Tori also unveiled the first batch of tour dates for the Night of Hunters Tour (which kicks off in Europe in September). Today, ToriAmos.com has been updated with the unveiling of the official album artwork for Hunters, which you can check out below.
As you may recall, we have already learned that Night of Hunters was inspired by classical works of art and will be presented as a “21st century song cycle inspired by select classical pieces spanning the last 400 years”. According to Tori herself, the album will tell the tale of a “protagonist … woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself”. It sounds like a fascinating piece of art, I cannot wait to hear it for myself. The album is due for release in September. As for this cover artwork, well, it’s beautiful. Tori truly is a master artist, I’m certain this latest album will be yet another masterpiece of genius. I love this cover, don’t you?
Singer Sean Kingston checked out of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital this week, nearly a month after crashing a personal-watercraft into a bridge, his publicist said Thursday. Kingston, 21, was critically injured in the accident, but doctors later said he would fully recover after about six weeks, according to two sources close to the hip-hop artist. He left the hospital Tuesday to complete his recovery at his Miami home, publicist Joe Carozza said. Kingston suffered a broken jaw, a fractured wrist and water in his lungs, according to the sources, who both asked not to be identified since they were not authorized to speak to the media.
This young man is very, very lucky. Not only could Sean have suffered the most deadly of consequences from his accident but he also endangered the life of another. I am very happy to learn that he is on the road to a full recovery. Life can be very funny sometimes. Sometimes we get second chances at a new lease on life. Here’s hoping Sean Kingston will take full advantage of his recuperation. Rest well and heal up, Sean! You’re a very lucky young man :)
Earlier today we learned that Lindsay Lohan was ordered to appear in court to face the judge after she reportedly failed at least one of two alcohol tests while under house arrest. TMZ is now reporting that Lindsay will face no punishment at all for this latest infraction. Apparently, Lindsay was only required to be tested in the months of January and February, which means she was essentially free to drink as much as she liked in the months since. Lohan will be forced to serve out the rest of her house arrest without having any parties … so that is how the court is choosing to punish her.
Lindsay Lohan will not go to jail,because Judge Stephanie Sautner ruled the prior judge — Elden Fox — only required controlled substances testing from January 3 – February 25, 2011. Judge Sautner said Lindsay is now restricted for the remainder of her house arrest to one friend at a time at her Venice loft, in addition to family members. And, the judge said NO PARTIES at Lindsay’s crib. Judge Sautner said the only thing Lindsay was guilty of was “extremely poor judgment.” Judge Sautner asked Lindsay if she wanted to get on with her life. Lindsay replied, “Yes I do.”

On Monday I blogged about the opening of the Detroit-owned and operated new eatery here in LA called Coney Dog. Last night, Adriana, David and I went to Coney Dog to check it out for ourselves. AY and I are big fans of Detroit Coneys so we were hopeful that all the great things we’ve been hearing about the eatery were true … and I am VERY HAPPY to tell you that Coney Dog is 100% a Detroit-style coney island :)
As you can see in the photos above, Adriana and I wore Detroit/Michigan themed t-shirts and, in fact, were not at all surprised to see that other patrons in the restaruant last night were also wearing Detroit gear. Coney Dog has only been open for a few days now but it has been enjoying a steady stream of customers, many of which who hail originally from Michigan. I am THRILLED to report that absolutely everything about Coney Dog is authentic … most importantly, the food. The all beef hot dogs have that snap when you bit into them, the chili is sheer perfection and the buns are steamed expertly so as not to fall about while you eat your coney islands. Coney Dog also offers bottles of Fago pop as well as Vernor’s in addition to Stroh’s Beer. Man, the food we ate last night was SO good. I’m telling you now … I will be frequenting Coney Dog as often as possible. I can’t tell you how many times I find myself craving Detroit coney islands here in LA … now, I can indulge those cravings anytime I want. If you love Detroit style coney dogs or want to try them for the first time, get your buns down to Coney Dog on the Sunset Strip to see what all the fuss is about. You will LOVE it! I guarentee.
Tonight, David and I will be making our way to The Roxy to see Nikka Costa live in concert. Last month I got to see Nikka perform with Prince during his 21 Night Stand in Los Angeles concert residency and tonight we get to see her perform her own show. It’s been many years since I’ve seen Nikka perform her own show. I am very excited to see her in action again!!

A private memorial service was held today for Jackass star Ryan Dunn, who was killed in a high-speed car crash in the early hours of Monday morning. Jackass frontman Johnny Knoxville led the mourners as a private ceremony was held at a funeral home in West Chester in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon. Dunn’s best friend and fellow Jackass star Bam Margera was in attendance with his wife Melissa Rothstein and parents April and Phil, who were also close to Dunn. The memorial took place on a painful day for the 34-year-old stuntman’s loved ones after toxicology reports confirmed that he was more than twice over the drink-drive limit when he crashed, killing himself and passenger Zachary Hartwell. The memorial was held at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith and Boyd funeral home and comes ahead of a full funeral, which is set to be held later this week … Funeral director Joseph DellaVecchia told CNN today that he didn’t expect any disturbances at the memorial- but admitted he had heard of Westboro’s plans. He told CNN: ‘We can't stop someone from coming to a public funeral, but this is private, and the police have everything under control.’ Police revealed yesterday that Dunn’s blood alcohol level was 0.196, more than twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania, which is 0.08, at the time of the crash. West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll added that the toxicology report from the Chester County Coroner’s Office indicated there were ‘no drugs of abuse detected’. Dunn, 34, had been in a bar with friends in the hours before the crash. He is said to have drunk three beers and taken shots before getting behind the wheel shortly after 2am on Monday morning. Police said he was driving at around 132mph and 140mph in a 55mph zone when his Porsche 911 flew off the road and burst into flames … It has emerged that Dunn had notched up 23 driving convictions, including ten for speeding, before his accident. Dunn had also been arrested for drink driving.
Five years before Ryan Dunn was killed in a violent car crash, Bam Margera predicted the “Jackass” star’s death in eerily specific detail — claiming, “He’s gonna eat it one of these times [in a car accident].” Bam — along with several cast members from his MTV show “Viva La Bam” — made the grim prediction while recording the DVD commentary for Season 5 back in 2006. According to the commentary, Dunn was involved in SEVERAL car accidents over the years — but Bam’s mom claimed, “He’ll never learn his lesson.” Another “Bam” cast member added, “I have [Ryan] in the death pool … for death by vehicle.” In this specific episode, Ryan races Bam’s Lamborghini in a limousine — and after Ryan loses, Bam claims, “[the limo] blew up just like every other fucking car he has.”
Yeah, no big surprises here, unfortunately. In less morbid Dunn news, another Jackass star — Jason Wee-Man Acuna — is paying home to his late friend in his own way. Wee-Man posted video of a new tribute tattoo that he got done this week, which you can watch in full below:
What a nice way for Wee-Man to honor and remember his friend. Again, altho the way that Ryan Dunn died is really no surprise to anyone who knew him, apparently, the manner in which he met his violent end is still very, very tragic. If anything good can come from this tragedy, it’s that Jackass fans (and others) will learn that drunk driving can have very serious, very sad and very tragic consequences.
The Wednesday night performance of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway was canceled after a stagehand died from what the police said was a drug overdose he suffered backstage. The episode did not involve any safety issues or accidents related to the production, according to a person working on the musical and a theater industry executive familiar with what happened. The two people spoke on the condition of anonymity in deference to the show's producers and the stagehands' union. The theater industry executive said it was a "personal tragedy unrelated to the show." "It was a stagehand who had done something terrible to himself," the theater industry executive said. "Apparently it happened in a bathroom backstage, and it was very, very serious." According to the police, the stagehand, a 29-year-old man, was found unconscious and in cardiac arrest backstage shortly before 8 p.m. He was rushed to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital nearby, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A police spokesman said that there was no criminality suspected and that investigators believed the man died from an overdose. The stagehand's name was withheld pending notification of the family, said a statement from a spokesman for the production. The stagehand was taken from the theater by ambulance while hundreds of audience members were still in their seats, said one of them, Suzanne Jewell, by telephone Wednesday night. A spokesman for the Broadway stagehands' union declined to comment on Wednesday night … At about 9 p.m. the two stars of the show, Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette, stepped out on stage to address the audience, who were there to see what would have been the show's 100th performance. Audience members said they could tell by Mr. Radcliffe's and Mr. Larroquette's tone that something grave had happened. "They said they debated it for a long time, and that there was a tragedy and they didn't feel comfortable performing," said one audience member, Barbara Germain. Ms. Jewell said they were both very emotional. "The two of them said they had mulled it over whether to go on with the show," she said. "They apologized to everyone, but said it wouldn't be fair to us because they would not have been able to give a good performance." An audience member then audibly asked about what had happened backstage. According to Ms. Jewell, Mr. Radcliffe replied that it was "personal" and that they did not want to say more.
Wow … what a tragic loss. It is completely understandable that the show had to be cancelled … I cannot, for the life of me, imagine how anyone could just brush aside a death in order to sing and dance on stage in front of a sold out audience. Ugh … this is such sad news. Just say no to drugs, people. It’s just not worth it :(
On June 18, Lindsay Lohan invited Life & Style inside her $2.25 million 3,000-square-foot pad in Venice Beach, Calif., to reveal what it’s like to be locked up in her own home. “I’m a very social person, and I like being outside, especially in Venice Beach. I’d like to get out more — just going out and having dinner,” Lindsay says in the new issue of Life & Style — on newsstands now — about being confined to her three-bedroom, four-bathroom triplex. “I was really upset not being able to go to my little brother’s birthday party. He just turned 16. That bummed me out.” Lindsay was forced to give up her fancy dinners, partying and shopping sprees when a judge sentenced her to house arrest in May, but the star still gets to have frequent visits from friends and family. “I’ve been having a lot of work-related meetings. Sometimes my friends come over. And I get to see my sister, Ali, which is nice,” Lindsay says. Although, she insists, there is no booze, no matter what. “When my friends come over, they’re not drinking,” she notes. “Alcohol is not in my house, so it’s just not a part of my life.” But when Lindsay is released on June 29, it won’t necessarily mean the end of nightclubs for her. “I don’t think you should ever say never,” she explains. The 24-year-old actress has her fair share of critics who believe this is not a real punishment and that she may never recover, but she’s ready to prove them wrong: “I’ve grown up — and I’m willing to do what I have to do to prove that.” And she plans to start out on the right track. “This may come as a shock, but I mean it: I want to start my community service. I want to finish that so I can work in August and September,” Lindsay tells Life & Style. Most important, she says, she loves acting and hopes that someday she can be taken seriously again. “You go through experiences. I do understand that I need to gain some of the respect back, but I’m willing to work hard for that. I understand the situations I’ve put myself in, and I don’t want to go back to that.”
LMAOOO!!! That Lohan has the audacity to make such a bold claim about not having alcohol in her home is just outragously ridiculous. Especially when the friends that she claims are “not drinking” happily sell photos to TMZ of open bottles of booze inside Lindsay‘s home … proving that she’s an outright liar:
TMZ has obtained photos showing the party scene inside Lindsay Lohan’s Venice, CA loft — including an open bottle of wine — despite Lohan’s declaration that her pad is booze-free. The photo of the open wine bottle was taken on June 9 — 3 days before Lohan had a bunch of friends over for a rooftop BBQ. Lohan told various media outlets there was no alcohol at the BBQ — and insisted she’s been 100% sober — but she tested positive for booze during a urine test on either the 12th or the 13th.
I can’t even with this girl … the only thing she hasn’t done yet at this point is to roll into court and drink a bottle of booze right in front of the judge but, yeah, she’s basically done pretty much everything else to thumb her nose at the law. As we learned earlier, Lindsay is due in court at 10AM PT this morning … we’ll just have to wait and see what, if anything, will come from her latest run-in with the law. Will she actually go to jail for serious this time? Stay tuned …
Harry Potter's adventures are going digital — J.K. Rowling says the boy wizard's adventures will be sold as e-books for the first time in October. All seven novels will be available as audiobooks and ebooks in multiple languages through a new website, Pottermore. Rowling also has written new Potter material for the interactive site. The site immerses users in the boy wizard's world, combining elements of computer game, social network and online store. Rowling says it includes "information I have been hoarding" about the books' characters and settings. Rowling unveiled the project Thursday in London. The site goes live July 31. The last Harry Potter novel, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," was published in 2007.
At last! I have been really dying for e-book versions of the Harry Potter books. As you may recall, back in April we learned that Rowling was finally entertaining the idea of releasing the HP books electronically … I’m guessing that was around the time that plans for Pottermore were seriously taking shape. It is so much easier to read the books on my Kindle than it is to carry around 7 hardcover novels. I was hoping the Pottermore site would be offering e-books so I am happy. The interactive online reading resource sounds very cool, too … but I, for one, couldn’t read an entire book online on a computer. This does sound very cool tho. I’m certain Pottermore will manage to make even MORE Harry Potter fans once it goes live.
Lord … you knew it was bound to happen AGAIN sooner or later. Wonder of wonders, Lindsay Lohan — who is currently on house arrest after being convicted of jewelry theft and probation violation — has been ordered back to court this morning after she reportedly failed at least one of two alcohol tests. Lohan was forced to take 2 blood alcohol level tests while on house arrest and, according to TMZ, she failed one of the tests. Because of this reported failure, L. Lo must appear before the judge in court today to face the consequences of her actions … which, if history tells us anything, means she will get another slap on the wrists and won’t face any real consequences at all. Lindsay Lohan tested positive for alcohol earlier this month … and has been ordered to appear in front of an L.A. County Superior Court judge tomorrow morning … and the Probation Dept. wants her in jail. Here’s what we know. Lindsay was tested twice last week. Sources tell TMZ … Lindsay tested positive for alcohol on one of the tests and negative on the other. In both tests, she tested negative for drugs. One of the tests was administered just after Lindsay had a rooftop barbecue party. Sources tell TMZ … the L.A. County Probation Department will ask Judge Stephanie Sautner to yank her out of house arrest and throw her in L.A. County Jail. And, we’re told, members of the D.A.’s office — will make an appearance as well, to lower the boom on Lindsay. The D.A. is still handling the DUI probation part of Lindsay’s criminal saga. The L.A. City Attorney is handling the necklace case. The Probation Department is pissed off because they tried to force Lindsay to take two tests in May but Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, refused to make Lindsay submit, claiming it wasn’t part of her probation. Turns out it was, so Lindsay subsequently took the two tests, one of which she failed. The Probation Dept. is also ticked that Lindsay is having parties while under house arrest. Judge Sautner will hold a hearing [Thursday] at 10 AM.
I mean … DUH! It’s as if none of this has ever happened before! I can’t even remember how many alcohol tests Lindsay failed while under the surveillance of a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet. Hello, the last time she was forced to wear a SCRAM, she failed at least one alcohol test. Are we REALLY supposed to believe that Lindsay was partying with her friends while under house arrest and she didn’t indulge in anything she’s not supposed to? I don’t know when the court system will realize that Lindsay Lohan will continue to do whatever she wants to do, thumbing her nose at the legal system, because she never EVER gets punished for her crimes. There is talk that she may get sent to jail for real this time … I won’t believe it until I see it. Even if she does get tossed in jail, just like she did a couple of months ago, she’ll likely get out in a matter of hours. This stupid game of “celebrity justice” will continue to play out in this way until Lohan is actually punished for her crimes. Will today be that day? Doubtful … but we’ll find out in a matter of hours.
