Lindsay Lohan Celebrates Her Continued House Arrest

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 12:38 PM PDT

Altho Lindsay Lohan is still under house arrest, she has much cause for celebration this weekend. On Thursday, she was hauled into court to face the judge for failing an alcohol test … and discovered that she is totally allowed to drink to her heart’s content and was sent on her way! This weekend, she invited her brother Michael Lohan, Jr. to her beachfront home in Venice, CA to help her celebrate, well, her continued house arrest … which, by the looks of it, seems like a really damn good time!

Lindsay Lohan was so fired up about the way things went down at her pee test court hearing on Thursday, she celebrated on the roof with a HUGE smile on her face … sans alcohol, of course. We’re told Lindsay’s brother Michael Jr. (pictured above) and their sister Ali will be staying at the pad while Lindsay lives out her remaining days under house arrest. According to our sources, Lindsay will continue to spend her time cooking, reading, watching movies, and catching up on business. As for drinking, even though Lindsay legally can … we’re told she won’t. It’s safer that way.

Gurl, party your ASS off! The court has got your back, the judge is on your side … why not? There’s a party at Lindsay Lohan‘s house, y’all … Woot!!

Britney Spears WOWs Anaheim With Her ‘Femme Fatale’ Tour

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 12:29 PM PDT

Last night David and I made our way down to Orange County to see Britney Spears perform on her Femme Fatale Tour at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. As you may recall, we got to see the show in full last Monday at the Staples Center in LA but seeing the show once simply wasn’t enough. Because we did the backstage tour last time, we missed seeing Nervo and Jessie and the Boy Toys perform … but last night, we got to watch these up and coming femme fatales open the show and put on FANTASTIC sets! We had a different vantage point for this concert and, to be honest, it put the entire show in an entirely new yet equally amazing light!

Nervo, Jessie and the Toy Boys and Nicki Minaj were all fantastic last night. I was very impressed with Nervo and Jessie and, from our new vantage point this time around, I enjoyed Nicki‘s performance much more. Seeing the whole performance in full really makes a difference. As for Britney, I spent the whole time watching the show instead of taking photos … and I loved every second of it:

We were seated right next to papa Jamie Spears and Jason Trawick as they held Sean Preston and Jayden James in their arms for the entire show. I cannot imagine what it must be like for these young boys to watch their mother perform on such a large stage … but it was clear they were having a blast. Jayden kept throwing up 3 fingers during Britney‘s performance of 3 … it was just too adorable! While I didn’t take many photos, I did record some video. Here is Britney‘s performance of Gimme More:

And here is video of the finale performance of Till the World Ends:

OMG … such a great show! And the Honda Center was totally SOLD OUT, full of the most amazing Britney fans. I got to meet Pink reader Ramone before Britney took the stage and we snapped this cute photo:

It was my extreme pleasure meeting you Ramone :) Thanks for the photo!

I am very happy that I will get to see the Femme Fatale Tour show one more time in August before Britney takes off for Europe. I can’t wait!!!

Tonight, David and I will be heading to the Odyssey Theater downtown to see our good friend Joshua Zar perform the opening night of his new play Blood Wedding. We are SO excited to see Josh on stage … I can’t even tell you! After the play, I will be making my way to The Viper Room to see Missing Persons in concert. It’s gonna be a very full, very fun night! Wee!! Happy Saturday!!

The ‘Year Zero’ TV Series Finds A Writer

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 11:37 AM PDT

Back in September, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor confirmed that HBO will produce a TV series based on the 2007 NIN album Year Zero. Today, we learn that the series has signed Fight Club screenwriter Jim Uhls to write the series. Fight Club + NIN = AMAZING!

Fight Club writer Jim Uhls has been tapped to write Trent Reznor's HBO/BBC Worldwide Productions miniseriesYear Zero. Based on the 2007 album by Reznor's Nine Inch Nails, the concept recording criticizes the U.S. government — specifically the Bush years — and presents a dystopian vision of the year 2022. Reznor has already adapted the album into an alternate reality game. Uhls, repped by CAA, penned the screenplay for Fight Club and Jumper. Reznor most recently picked up the Academy Award for penning the original score, with Atticus Ross, to Aaron Sorkin's The Social Network. He also composed the score for Sorkin's upcoming adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The epic sci-fi miniseries is a co-production of HBO and BBC Worldwide Productions.

I am LOVING this pairing. Uhls did an amazing job adapting the novel Fight Club into a fantastic film … so I’m sure he’ll do a great job with the Year Zero source material to craft an excellent TV series. I am really looking forward to seeing the world of Year Zero come to life on the small screen. YZ is absolutely one of my fave NIN albums particularly because of the album’s themes. I’m certain the HBO series will do the world of Year Zero justice. This is fab news … I can’t wait to hear when we can expect to see the show hit the airwaves.

Jennifer Aniston Shows Off Her First Tattoo

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 10:58 AM PDT

Actress Jennifer Aniston, who has been amping up her public displays of presumed affection for her rumored new boyfriend Justin Theroux in recent days, was spotted on the streets of NYC yesterday showing off her first tattoo. Jen got a bit of ink tattooed on her right foot in tribute to her late dog Norman. In honor of his memory, she had his name tattooed near her ankle.

Aniston debuted some new ink in New York Friday. The actress got her first tattoo on the inside of her right foot, and it reads “Norman,” her rep tells PEOPLE. It is Aniston’s favorite word after all! The 42-year-old got a little teary telling James Lipton that during a taping of Inside the Actors Studio on Thursday. Norman was her Welsh corgi-terrier mix, who died in May at 15 years old.

Awww … what a sweet tribute to her beloved friend. Tattoos are such a personal thing for people, it says a lot that Jen decided to get her first tattoo in honor of her dog Norman. It’s clear that she loved him very much. I’m guessing that this will not be the first of many tattoos for Jen … but it is a very nice one ;)

Is Crystal Harris Trying To Pawn Off Her Engagement Ring From Hugh Hefner?

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 10:39 AM PDT

Last weekend, former Playboy fiancée Crystal Harris was spending what was supposed to be her wedding day sunning herself by a pool in Las Vegas, NV. This weekend, according to photographic evidence from TMZ, Harris is reportedly having the diamond engagement ring given to her by Hugh Hefner appraised in order to possibly sell it for cash. Sooooo romantic, yeah?

Crystal Harris is angling to cash in on the $90,000 engagement ring Hugh Hefner slipped on her finger … with a little help from a San Diego jewelry store. Our jewelry spies were there when Harris stepped inside Prospect Jewelers in La Jolla, CA, asking for an appraisal on the ring. The owner asked Harris if there was any documentation on the quality of the ring (cut, clarity, etc.,) but the playmate was in the dark. So Crystal called over to the Playboy Mansion — on speaker phone — for info on the ring. The person on the other end of the line offered to fax Crystal the info — but not immediately — so Crystal left. Our spy overheard the owner telling Crystal he was sorry to hear about Hef, to which Crystal replied, “Are you kidding? It was all for publicity.”

HMMMM … I’m not sure I totally believe that Crystal made the “publicity” comment but … I suppose it is possible that she did say that. In any event, it seems clear that Crystal is not interested in keeping any mementos from her brief time as Hugh Hefner‘s fiancée … I guess money trumps memories. I’m pretty sure she’ll be able to get quite a pretty penny for her $90k rock. Best of luck to her.

Michael Jackson Remembered, 2 Years After His Death

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 09:54 AM PDT

Today, June 25, marks the 2 year anniversary of Michael Jackson‘s death. It’s really insane to me to know that it has been 2 full years since we first heard the tragic news that MJ passed away … but one thing’s for sure, in those 2 years not a single day has gone by where the late King of Pop was forgotten by anyone … not for one second.

Two years ago Saturday (June 25), Michael Jackson died in his Los Angeles home. He was 50 years old. The circumstances surrounding his death are still disputed, though authorities officially attributed it to acute propofol intoxication and cardiac arrest. In the two years since Jackson died, the question of whether or not his doctor, Conrad Murray, is responsible has not been settled. The doctor, who stands accused of involuntary manslaughter, is due to stand trial in September. Jackson’s three children — Prince (14), Paris (13) and Blanket (9) — appear to be thriving. They now live with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson. On Thursday, they were spotted heading to the movies in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Earlier this week, according to the Daily Mail, the Jackson children were presented with custom-made memorial motorcycles that will be driven through Los Angeles’ Forrest Lawn cemetery on Saturday. A tribute will also be held in Jackson’s hometown of Gary, Indiana, where the mayor says the one-time King of Pop will be honored every June 25.

While the sad circumstances surrounding his death are still being debated in court, I think it’s important to remember all the wonderful music that MJ left us with. He was truly a genius and will forever be an eternal Pop Culture Icon. On this second anniversary of his death, let’s not wallow in sadness but, instead, let’s revel in his art. Maybe cue up some of your fave Michael Jackson songs … some of your fave MJ videos … let’s celebrate his life today, not mourn it. The world still greatly misses Michael Jackson … but thru his art, he will be with us forever.

New York Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage!

Posted: 25 Jun 2011 09:05 AM PDT

It is will great pride and jubilation that I pass along the AMAZING news that the State of New York has legalized same-sex marriage … which, in one fell swoop, more than doubles the number of US same-sex citizens that are now able to get married! All week long, we’ve been hearing about delays in the NY State Senate concerning the same-sex marriage law vote but late last night, on the first day of 2011 NY Gay Pride, the Senate voted 33 to 29 to make same-sex marriage LEGAL in the State of NY! Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the bill into law at 11:55 PM ET last night, which means that same-sex couples in NY will be able to get married in about 30 days! What fantastic news!!!

Lawmakers voted late Friday to legalize same-sex marriage, making New York the largest state where gay and lesbian couples will be able to wed and giving the national gay-rights movement new momentum from the state where it was born. The marriage bill, whose fate was uncertain until moments before the vote, was approved 33 to 29 in a packed but hushed Senate chamber. Four members of the Republican majority joined all but one Democrat in the Senate in supporting the measure after an intense and emotional campaign aimed at the handful of lawmakers wrestling with a decision that divided their friends, their constituents and sometimes their own homes. With his position still undeclared, Senator Mark J. Grisanti, a Republican from Buffalo who had sought office promising to oppose same-sex marriage, told his colleagues he had agonized for months before concluding he had been wrong. "I apologize for those who feel offended," Mr. Grisanti said, adding, "I cannot deny a person, a human being, a taxpayer, a worker, the people of my district and across this state, the State of New York, and those people who make this the great state that it is the same rights that I have with my wife." Senate approval was the final hurdle for the same-sex marriage legislation, which was approved last week by the Assembly. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo signed the measure at 11:55 p.m., and the law will go into effect in 30 days, meaning that same-sex couples could begin marrying in New York by late July. Passage of same-sex marriage here followed a daunting run of defeats in other states where voters barred same-sex marriage by legislative action, constitutional amendment or referendum. Just five states currently permit same-sex marriage: Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as the District of Columbia. The approval of same-sex marriage represented a reversal of fortune for gay-rights advocates, who just two years ago suffered a humiliating defeat when a same-sex marriage bill was easily rejected by the Senate, which was then controlled by Democrats. This year, with the Senate controlled by Republicans, the odds against passage of same-sex marriage appeared long. But the unexpected victory had a clear champion: Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat who pledged last year to support same-sex marriage but whose early months in office were dominated by intense battles with lawmakers and some labor unions over spending cuts. Mr. Cuomo made same-sex marriage one of his top priorities for the year and deployed his top aide to coordinate the efforts of a half-dozen local gay-rights organizations whose feuding and disorganization had in part been blamed for the defeat two years ago. For Senate Republicans, even bringing the measure to the floor was a freighted decision. Most of the Republicans firmly oppose same-sex marriage on moral grounds, and many of them also had political concerns, fearing that allowing same-sex marriage to pass on their watch would embitter conservative voters and cost the Republicans their one-seat majority in the Senate. Leaders of the state's Conservative Party, whose support many Republican lawmakers depend on to win election, warned that they would oppose in legislative elections next year any Republican senator who voted for same-sex marriage. But after days of contentious discussion capped by a marathon nine-hour closed-door debate on Friday, Republicans came to a fateful decision: The full Senate would be allowed to vote on the bill, the majority leader, Dean G. Skelos, said Friday afternoon, and each member would be left to vote according to his or her conscience … Just one lawmaker rose to speak against the bill: Rubén Díaz Sr. of the Bronx, the only Democratic senator to cast a no vote.

Let’s give credit where credit is due … Governor Cuomo, a Democrat, went into office vowing to get same-sex marriage passed in New York … and he did. BUT, he did not do so alone. Two years ago, when the Democrats controlled the Senate they could NOT get the job done. A Republican held Senate last night did what they couldn’t do … they helped advance marriage equality in the United States of America … and I will be forever grateful. The matter of marriage equality isn’t a Democrat thing, it isn’t a Republican thing … it’s a human thing. My most heartfelt thanks go out to the brave Republican Senators who did the right thing and joined the Democrats in passing this same-sex marriage bill into law. Shame on Democrat Rubén Díaz Sr. But, you know what, today is not a day for shame … it is a day for PRIDE and joy! New York is now the 6th State, along with the District of Washington DC, to offer same-sex marriage in the US. Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, the District of Columbia and New York are the trailblazers in marriage equality … they will forever be remembered as the brave States (and district) that forged the way to TRUE liberty, justice and equality for all in the US. One day soon, the basic human rights of others will NOT be fodder for popular vote in this country … one day, marriage equality will be afforded for ALL US citizens … you can believe that. But until that day, we will celebrate each and every victory in the fight for marriage equality. New York has done the US very, very proud! What an amazing Pride celebration it will be in NY this weekeend. Wooot!!!!!!
